Maintaining Your Style While Working Remotely
•Posted on July 30 2020
For the past few months, Americans have been hit with the unthinkable… working remotely for an extended period of time. This begs the question: how do we define our style and remain professional while working out of the office? All of a sudden, we have more time in the morning, there's no commute. and no real need for a face full of make up and styled hair, because who will we see? How many of you have found yourself in your PJ’s, no make-up, and unbrushed hair at the end of the day?
Did you feel free or like a slug?
That last question is not a judgement but a real question. Now is certainly a time to experiment with different styles; for example:
- Try the casual jogger instead of dress pants.
- Add a sweater or casual comfy pullover instead of a silk blouse.
- Slip on some cool sneakers instead of those heels!
Have fun experimenting with different looks. Just because we are in a season of being casual, doesn't mean we have to look sloppy and not put together.
Personally, I find that I do everything better if I am dressed everyday with makeup and styled hair. Some days I am pretty casual, but I am always put together. You must be thinking it’s pretty easy me when I have all these fabulous clothes, shoes and jewelry at my fingertips…. But this has been MY mindset forever. It has always been important to look my best, because when I think I look good- I feel good and I am more productive.
So, while you are working at home be casual and comfy, but still try to look put together. It may just make the transition back to work easier.
