Styling Up Sneakers
•Posted on March 04 2020
Fashion sneakers are one of our favorite trends, but we've noticed that sometimes people are hesitant to incorporate sneakers into outfits because they don’t know how to wear them. Mixing in cute sneakers for your every day outfits might seem like a recipe for disaster, but it’s actually super easy to pull this look off.
The key to nailing this look is paying attention to the size of your sneakers (whether they’re bulky, thin, or whether they have a low or high profile). With tighter miniskirts we like sneakers that are a bit bulkier for two reasons: they give the outfit some volume, and they tend to have a slightly higher insole, which adds a little length to your legs. Shoes with low profiles like Converse don’t do your legs any favors and can give the outfit a lackluster vibe.
For longer dresses and skirts, bulky sneaks work too if you’re going for that kinda boho, layered look. To keep it simple, if the outfit hugs your body, go for chunky sneaks. If it’s flowy or hangs loose off your body, then go for shoes like Converse or some cute jazz flats.
When you’re wanting to put a cute twist on a look for a night out, the sneaker itself becomes the limiting factor. A Converse style flat will only work if it’s obviously made out of a nicer material like leather, suede, or embroidered. If the sneaker itself is a statement, keep the color palette of the rest of your outfit fairly simple.
A pair of well-crafted sneakers can put a totally new spin on an old LBD or give a neutral outfit a little pop, so don't be afraid to try something different!
